The mandate was announced Monday in a letter to employees of MGM Resorts CEO Bill Hornbuckle. MGM has about 57,000 employees nationwide and says it plans to hire several thousand additional employees.
In a statement, Hornbuckle said they are investigating to further expand the vaccine mandate to other positions and hourly employees. A large part of the workforce works hourly under a collective labor agreement and cannot therefore be obliged to be vaccinated.

New Mandate

All new employees, who do not work exclusively from home, must provide proof of vaccination before they can start work, effective August 30.

This move comes as White House officials have focused on boosting vaccination efforts in four key sectors: large corporations, small businesses, health care providers and colleges.
